New figures indicate that small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs) are being offered a range of benefits from commercial credit card providers.
The Energy Business Review found that many business start-ups are enjoying the perks offered by corporate credit card schemes, with a survey by American Express last year indicating that hotel discounts and air miles are among the most common benefits for UK customers.
These benefits have resulted in a surge in credit card uptake among European SMEs some five per cent above that of fuel cards, according to the review.
It also found that the ability for credit card loyalty benefits to be accrued with any retailer made them especially popular.
The American Express study found that two thirds of employees bought services and goods for their companies via credit card, with 83 per cent claiming to see the advantage of such a practice over traditional invoicing.
