Business networking is a useful way of growing a small business, one expert has emphasised.
A spokesman for the British Chamber of Commerce (BCC) recently explained that networking can be an extremely useful method of remaining competitive.
He commented: "Any business looking to grow should look at networking. It may not be suitable for every business, but its certainly something that all businesses should be aware of.
"Engaging in networking is beneficial because the only way you can grow your business is by interacting with people."
The spokesman emphasised that word of mouth is by far the best way of raising the profile of a business start-up, whether it be through "meeting [other people] online or
meeting them at physical events".
He continued: "If you are not at the table, you dont have a say. If you are not talking to people and finding out what your competitors are doing, then you are going to be at a disadvantage."
The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) recently pointed out that web services can help SMEs reach "a global audience".
David Thorp, director of research and information, explained: "For SMEs, an internet presence is increasingly vital.
"With over a billion people now online around the world, the internet opens the door for SMEs to a global audience that previously was only accessible to those with large budgets or good contacts."
