An award for older entrepreneurs has been launched.
The Silver Fox award is to be presented by startups.co.uk and is sponsored by Yellow Pages directories.
It focuses on entrepreneurs over the age of 50 that have set up a business start-up (less than 60 employers) within the last three years.
Catherine Kehoe, head of marketing strategy and communications at Yell, publisher of Yellow Pages, said: "We are committed to championing enterprising people and are delighted to be sponsoring the Silver Fox category at the Startups Awards.
"It takes a special mix of skills, commitment and passion to set up a business and we are looking forward to hearing from people who have an exciting and inspiring tale to tell."
The deadline for entries is July 13th and the presentation ceremony will take place in October.
The judging panel will be taking a number of factors into account when making their decision: they will be on the look out for unique and unusual ideas, company formation leading to commercial success and businesspeople with the right frame of mind.
Previous research has found that older entrepreneurs are more likely to succeed in business than their younger counterparts.
Evidence indicates that this is because they are often more self-confident, are treated better by banks and have greater experience, business contacts and assets.
