Research from PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has discovered an increase in the number of business start-up owners who feel comfortable with the impact HM Revenue & Customs is having on their company formation.
Some 33 per cent of privately owned companies which were involved in the survey said the current UK tax set-up encourage businesses to expand, reports the Financial Times.
This figure was up a fifth from the year previously. Some 62 per cent of business start-ups also said they found new methods of communication with HRMC such as its website - beneficial to their company formation.
Matthew Knowles from the Federation of Small Businesses said that there was still a consensus that the taxation system could be made easier to digest.
He added: "Most of our members would think that I was completely barmy if I said that the tax system had got better. The complexity of it is what drives our members round the bend."
In total 423 companies were surveyed in the PwC study.
This year 73 per cent said they were aware of research and development tax credits, up from 57 per cent in 2006.
