Many businesses are turning to their accountants when looking for advice on company formation.
With offshore banking and other key areas among accountants business acumen, the survey discovered that two thirds of small business owners would look to their accountant if they had problems with their bank, reports Accountancy Age.
Steve Websdale, Venture Finance director, explained the crucial role banking services played for UK businesses.
He commented: "It is in the interests of the whole of the UK to ensure that they can succeed and they need affordable, reliable banking services to do so.
"In light of increasing financial options, accountants are increasingly expected to paly the role of protector and guide."
Advice on switching bank accounts was cited as one particular area used by accountants for business start-ups.
Last week, the Direct Marketing Association (DMA) said the potential for emarketing had become huge.
Robert Dirskovski, head of interactive media at the DMA, said: "The vast majority of us have access to the web and emails either at home or in the office. So the potential reach of this channel is enormous."
